Dela Kay Calls Out the Chaos on "Guilty Conscience"

Alt-pop singer-songwriter Dela Kay brings her raw truth to her latest single, 'Guilty Conscience,' blending 80s shimmer with alt-pop grit and a punk-pop pulse that makes it truly distinctive.

The high-energy single opens with an addictive, cheeky collage of sounds, featuring driving drums and storm-brewing guitar riffs. Throughout the verses, Kay calls out someone who brings all the mess and the drama to a relationship, crooning, "Fell in love with a stranger/ Who promised me the moon/ But I just filled the spaces/ For you." With confident and playful vocals, she lists out all of her paramour's red flags on the pop punk inspired chorus, singing, "Are you dumb or just addicted?/ So far over your head/ Your sorrys don't mean shit/ Choke on your guilty conscience," putting her foot down for the final time.

'"Guilty Conscience' came from a very personal place," she shares. "I wanted to say everything I'd never say and get it off my chest—funny, cheeky, but real. Everyone has experienced betrayal, and this song talks about the kind that happens online too—virtual cheating, gaslighting, all that messy stuff."

The accompanying music video seamlessly captures the energy and theatrics of the single, opening with Kay drenched in the spotlight. She sings and dances in the empty theater, letting herself loose and embracing the newfound freedom she has now that she is rid of the dead weight.

With "Guilty Conscience," Dela Kay invites fans to explore the messy, human side of relationships, cementing herself as an artist unafraid to be unapologetically herself. "I hope people hear it and feel seen, entertained, and maybe even a little empowered to call out the chaos in their own lives."
