Do Yourself a Favor and Listen to Havelock's Mesmerizing Debut Single, "Pig Latin"

As of this very moment, Havelock has only one single to his name, and beyond that we do not know much else about this otherworldly British artist who suddenly emerged from the ether to grace us with one of the best debut showings of 2019.

What we do know of Havelock is that he grew up in the South English countryside of Kent before moving to London in 2016 upon quickly realizing that the country life was not for him. Beyond that, all we have is one single, "Pig Latin," to go off of but do not worry, it is plenty. The first of hopefully many singles to come, "Pig Latin" is a three-minute world unto its own. From its intimate, nearly-hushed tones to its dreamy, reverberant guitars, every singular element Havelock has on display here is nothing short of hypnotic.

Throughout its succinct yet impressive run, Havelock and "Pig Latin" never show any signs of letting up on their spellbinding trance. Even when cycling through various sonic personas, including a King Krule - evoking hip-hop break, the mystique of Havelock is on full display. Upon listening to Havelock's fantastic blend of indie rock and hip-hop aesthetics, one thing is apparent. If he keeps this up, Havelock is poised to go down in the pantheon of mythical, enigmatic British artists.
