OnesToWatch: Who is ORKID?
ORKID: ORKID is me in every fiber and every way. It’s my world, my life, and a living, breathing memory of moments I’ve lived through. Its a world you step into, my diary cracked wide open.
What are you doing tomorrow? Or better yet what do you wish you were doing tomorrow?
Tomorrow I’m in a session, which is honestly a really good day in my opinion!! I love being in the studio. But I also wish I was starting my own headline show… or playing Coachella main stage.
What is In All of My Tomorrows about?
This song is for the person who became my anchor. Even when the shadows feel heavy, I will carry my grief with me into every new day. Yet within that grief lives hope, because they are with me now and in all of my tomorrows. And now I know I never have to face them alone. My first EP, Where Flowers Grow, was rooted in grief - a body of work that helped me begin to heal deep trauma. But grief never truly leaves us, it lingers, it evolves. This EP, In All Of My Tomorrows, is the continuation, the echo of that sorrow, shaped by the space between mourning and mending. It’s a tribute to everything that’s carried me through.
How’d you settle on your sound?
I didn’t really “settle” as much as I spiraled until I found it. I stopped comparing, stopped chasing reference points, and focused only on what felt true. When I found that feeling, I held onto it. Now I have a kind of anchor, so I’m not just floating around guessing. Though sometimes I still search… but I always know where home is.
Any collaborators? Who produced the EP?
Yeees all of my amazing friends and creatives. I wrote this EP with Husky X pug, Niklas Carson, Maria Hazell, Rhys, Rory James, Klaudy, Sebastian Furrer, on diff songs
Producers: Svidden, Sebastian Furrer, Niklas Carson, Albin Clern.
Describe your EP as a color.
Stark white.
Besides this excellent EP what else should we be on the lookout for?
Everything, world takeover. More music, growing my live shows can’t wait to play more live. Some exciting collabs.. I just feel like I could breathe in the whole world right now. Keep meeting amazing people that inspire me, build the world of ORKID and expand it even further and find more people I can help feel a little bit less lonely.
What's inspiring you right now outside of music?
The people in my life, getting to know this somewhat new version of myself. Being on ADHD medication has given me a new lens, so I’m kind of recalibrating what even inspires me right now. It’s a bit all over the place, like Jack Sparrow’s compass when it’s broken, but in a way that feels exciting. Lately it’s been a lot of gratitude for the people in my life but also that I’m getting to do what I’ve always dreamed of, which still feels kind of unreal. I’m also such a Pinterest girly, constantly making mood boards, playing new games, and I’m deep into fiction, anything with vampires, honestly. If I could walk through life with a Twilight filter on, I would.
Food group / activity best suited to enjoying your work?
Since I LOVE THIS get some pickles, smetana and honey - like emotions that shouldn’t mix but somehow do. Also like going up for a random snack eating chocolate at 2am.
Activity would be sitting on the moon, ideally. Otherwise going on a late night drive/walking up into the mountains/any high ground to a look out place, OR better yet walking it, listening to Steep Hills on the way up, then Eden the last bit, sitting down on a bench seeing the city lights like veins, listening to fight or flight, letting yourself feel everything. On the way down you blast Ethereal then In all of my tmrs running the last bit.
Musically who is new but making all the right moves? Who are your current OnesToWatch?
The ones who feel like they’re building their own universe instead of chasing a trend.. all of the ones listed here underneath!!
Absolutely, Syd Taylor, KURT, Debbii Dawson
