Fleetwood Kelly Releases Resilient Anthem "Summer Hymnal"

Fleetwood Kelly's latest single, "Summer Hymnal," is a testament to his unique and unapologetically honest voice in today’s music scene. This dance-driven track is a euphoric collaboration with R&B and house legend CeCe Peniston that showcases Kelly's bold, expressive, and profoundly human style and adds a new dimension to the song, setting him apart in the industry.

The track opens with a collage of soulful vocal ad-libs and nostalgic, stripped-down instrumentation. Kelly's theatrical and gripping vocals serve as a monologue to the listeners, setting the scene for a night out on the town, filled with dizzying starry-filled skies and disco-ball-lit dance floors.

Then, the production switches gears to anthemic sonics that ingeniously blend the nostalgia of 90s house with a modern, refreshing twist, channeling the spirit of late-night dance floors as places of healing and self-discovery. CeCe’s iconic voice is the perfect complement, adding legacy and power to a song that celebrates queer resilience. It evokes the type of joy one feels when you’ve found what you’ve been searching for, dancing through the pain and ultimately becoming stronger because of it.

In a press statement, Fleetwood Kelly called the new single “the climax of a night out dancing...a spiritual moment for anyone who's ever found themselves through music.”

Fleetwood Kelly grew up in rural Pennsylvania and found refuge in pop during the recession-era 2000s. His sound and story, a reflection of the emotional evolution of a queer artist, are deeply woven into the fabric of his music. This personal narrative, shaped by both hardship and hope, makes his work deeply relatable and empathetic pieces of art that offer sanctuary.
