flowerovlove Conjures a Love Spell in "Breaking News"

There’s nothing that can reawaken your belief in magic quite like falling in a new love. Childlike and euphoric, soft pop songstress flowerovlove bottles that very feeling in her latest single, “Breaking News.”

You can always guarantee that 19-year-old multi-hyphenate flowerovlove will be to some degree lovestruck, though “Breaking News” serves as the innocent crush anthem. Produced by Duck Blackwell and co-written alongside close friend Ines Dunn, this song has the ability to transport you to the first time you felt butterflies and decided you would love that person forever, whether it was 10 years ago or 10 days ago.

The self-directed video is equally whimsical, seeing flowerovlove performing cheeky choreography alongside love interest Rory Bell. The two dance through an empty library, floating at the mere presence of one another. With her signature high socks, picked hair, and tender vocals, she is the celebration of girlhood.

“Breaking News” feels like its secret ingredient is magic, and that may have to do with it being an exercise of manifestation. “I was feeling sad when I wrote it, actually,” explains flowerovlove. “I wanted to feel something lovey-dovey, so I wanted to manifest feelings through a song.” Through alchemizing her muck into a miracle, every soul the song now touches gets a chance to taste the sweetness of that feeling for 2 minutes and 41 seconds.
