GAZAL Turns Chaos Into Clarity on Her Own Terms
Australian-Lebanese singer-songwriter Alessandra Gazal, aka GAZAL, is an alt-pop artist born and based in Sydney, creating dynamic and authentic music that can soundtrack any occasion. Empowering, bold, eclectic, and just fun, she draws inspiration from boundary-pushing artists such as Little Simz, FKA twigs, and Doechii.
"I think from my music I would want people to take away that women can be multi-faceted people and live in many different spaces, whether that's emotional, sassy, or powerful."
Despite her dad only playing classical music at home, GAZAL has developed a sound that transcends genre, blending alt-pop, hip-hop, R&B and Lebanese heat influences into a world that balances vulnerability, experimentation and sharp lyricism with effortless confidence.
Her most recent single, ONION (stfu), is a masterclass in storytelling. Blending multiple genres and perspectives, the track unfolds like two songs intertwined, shifting between past and present as the narrator revisits a moment in real time and arrives at a simple but powerful revelation: ‘What would happen if you just shut up?’ It is a perfect example of GAZAL's ability to transform intimate observations into compelling, universal narratives.
Both on stage and behind the scenes, GAZAL is rapidly establishing herself as a formidable presence in the Australian music industry. She has supported UK artist Nilüfer Yanya on her sold-out Australian tour and has lent her songwriting expertise to artists including grentperez, George Alice and Vera Blue.
Before releasing her debut EP, I Accidentally Burnt The House Down, in 2023, GAZAL spent years developing her artistic identity while helping shape the sounds of other artists, creating hundreds of self-produced demos in the process. Her debut album, Gods Into Frauds (2025), expanded on the foundations laid by the EP, showcasing her distinctive vocals, adventurous production style and the many layers of her artistry. Her highly anticipated upcoming EP, How Do Women Fly?, will be released on 16 October.
GAZAL's live performances are magnetic and immersive. Sonically and visually, she creates a world that effortlessly transports audiences somewhere between a jazz bar and a late-night club, balancing sleek sophistication with high-energy dance-floor appeal.

Another track from the upcoming EP, Backpack, pairs a sweet, love-soaked R&B-pop melody with an unmistakable sense of comfort and nostalgia. However, that may be thanks to the playful interpolation of Dora’s classic theme of the same name. It’s a genius, unexpected creative choice that demonstrates GAZAL's sharp musical instincts and fearless approach to songwriting.
Also featured on the EP is Daisychains, a synth-laced pop track that feels like a mesh between Tate McRae and don't smile at me era Billie Eilish, while remaining unmistakably GAZAL.
