Gus Dapperton is an eccentric pop star in the making, to say the least. The New York - based singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist made quite the stir amongst critics and tastemakers last year with the release of his sophomore EP, You Think You're a Comic!. Hailed as the latest in a new wave of bedroom pop artists breaking into the mainstream consciousness, Dapperton is continually proving himself, with each new release, as more than just buzz cut or a rising artist easily defined by the latest buzzwords.

"My Favorite Fish," Dapperton's latest, follows "World Class Cinema" as the second single from the New York artist's just announced and already highly-anticipated debut album, Where Polly People Go To Read, due out April 19 via AWAL Recordings. The new single sees Dapperton taking a step back, turning down the tempo, and delivering a slow-burning serenade. Despite its name, the idyllic track is not a The Shape of Water style ode to a much-beloved amphibian but is a dreamy love letter to his girlfriend Jess Farran, who also shot the press and cover artwork for "My Favorite Fish."

The ethereal blend of R&B and pop-leaning aesthetics that is "My Favorite Fish" serves as a delectable taste of Dapperton's forthcoming album. Expected to build on the timeless quality of '60s soft-rock, '70s psych, '80s new wave, and modern bedroom pop and R&B that Dapperton has demonstrated over the past couple years, Where Polly People Go To Read is expected to be quite like anything we have heard yet.

If you are unable to wait until April for another taste of the forthcoming album, the New York artist will be embarking on a monumental 43-date European tour, starting this February. For those of us stateside, guess we will have to get by coasting on the effortless vibe that comes with playing "My Favorite Fish" on repeat.
