Heart Attack Man Drop Oddly Wholesome "Stick Up" Video Ahead of Upcoming LP | THE NOISE

Clevland punk rock band Heart Attack Man is done with the world's bullshit on their latest single, "Stick Up." With enigmatic instrumentation and cutting lyrics, the band fights complacency and takes back their power from a growlingly indifferent world.

The single opens with cinematic guitar riffs and twinkling percussion. Frontman Eric Egan sets the scene with a cheery threat, singing, "Everybody get down/ and no one gets hurt/ I've got a gun inside my sweatshirt." Throughout the rest of the song, Egan describes how the world is a nightmare and how they're done trying to play fair when the game is rigged. Then, backed by moody instrumentals, the band takes back control with a sunny, albeit chaotic sonic disposition, leading to the group yelling, "This is a stick up! Put the money in the bag!"

"It's a simple story of a bank robbery," shared Egan. "Below the surface, it's a metaphor for taking the reins of my life. I'm sick of all of these habits and tendencies that have done nothing for me. I need to demand discipline for myself. It manifested in this song."

The accompanying music video is a simple, wholesome, nature-set visual that follows the band spending a day in the woods. Viewers watch as the trio does various outdoor activities, including walking some cute pups, dancing in the forest, and using sticks as substitutes for their instruments. The video's lighthearted energy juxtaposes the song's themes of deep-rooted dissatisfaction and desire to take charge, challenging listeners to pay attention to what the band is trying to say past the surface.

The track is the latest release ahead of the Cleveland band's forthcoming album Freak Of Nature, set for release on 26 May. It also comes ahead of the band's Freak Of Na-Tour, a six-week run of dates that includes shows in Detroit, New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, and L.A, before concluding with two shows in the band's hometown Cleveland.
