Honey Revenge has never shied away from writing larger-than-life hooks, but their latest single, “Sunday Scaries,” proves they’re just as good at capturing the emotional fallout after the party ends. Serving as the latest preview of their upcoming sophomore album, Loving and Losing, out September 18, the track pairs glossy pop-rock melodies with an honest look at the cycle of escapism, overindulgence, and the inevitable hangxiety that follows.
From its opening moments, the single bursts with infectious energy. Punchy guitars, pulsing rhythms, and Devin Papadol’s charismatic vocals make it impossible not to get swept up in the momentum. But beneath the sugar-rush production lies a more self-aware perspective. Papadol immediately acknowledges the consequences waiting around the corner, singing, “I’m on the verge of doing something I’m gonna regret / Maybe the poison in my cup will make me less aware.” It’s a familiar feeling wrapped inside one of Honey Revenge’s catchiest choruses to date.
That balance between carefree fun and self-destruction gives the track its personality. The chant-worthy refrain, “So we’ll party, party, party ‘til I’m drunk on the stairs / I know that Sunday will be scary, but tonight I don’t care,” perfectly captures the mindset of choosing temporary relief over tomorrow’s problems. It’s an undeniably fun hook, but one that never loses sight of the anxiety simmering underneath.
Papadol explained that the song draws inspiration from the all-too-familiar feeling of waking up after a night out and replaying every questionable decision. “Escapism is all fun and games until it evolves into self-sabotage,” she shares, and that honesty elevates the single beyond a standard party anthem. Rather than glorifying reckless nights, Honey Revenge acknowledges why they’re so enticing in the first place.
Accompanied by a colorful music video packed with chaotic house-party moments, “Sunday Scaries” embraces the thrill of living in the moment while never pretending the morning after doesn’t exist. It’s another irresistibly catchy step toward Loving and Losing and further proof that Honey Revenge knows exactly how to pair massive hooks with relatable storytelling.
