Meet Hong Kong Boyfriend, your new favorite DIY R&B artist. Hailing from northern California, the young talent burst onto the scene with his single "Cold Waters." As the alt-R&B tune cascades through your ears it begins to make sense that his inspirations include Bon Iver and Solange.

"Cold Waters" links its casual melody with tingling 808s. Hong Kong Boyfriend finds time to sing and rap in his own tasteful way. Lyrically, he dives into feelings of a first crush. He shared with us,

"When I was young I met with a girl who played cello and talked a lot more than me. I had a flip phone and a single speed bike. I wouldn't say we were in love; I would say we were obsessed with each other's lives. 'Cold Waters' is a song about spiraling."
