Hot Mulligan Release Absurd Anti-Establishment Anthem "Stickers Of Brian" | THE NOISE
Michigan's Hot Mulligan doesn't hold back any punches on their latest single, "Stickers of Brian," as they continue their North American tour supporting Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World. This is the band's first new song since releasing their most recent album, Why Would I Watch, and it further cements this five-piece band as a heavy hitter and leader in the scene for the new generation of pop-punk and emo fans.
The new single is an energetic and dynamic track that expresses frustration with the monotony and tyrannical misery of a thankless day job, with comedy, sexuality, and capitalistic dread seeping throughout. The track juxtaposes its lyrics about the life-draining corporate lifestyle with the band's classic, energetic, raging instrumentation, creating an exceptionally relevant, relatable, and comedic anti-establishment anthem for the masses. This pairing of emotionally charged delivery and comical, cheeky lyricism is especially pungent on lines like, "If I've gotta hear the same song from the manager's Pandora playlist again, I swear to god I'll fill the sink with ammonia and chlorine and block every door!"
The accompanying music video, directed by Michael Herrick, portrays a dull meeting that spirals into absolute chaos. Depicting polyamorous smooches in the boardroom with bold, absurd comedy, the utter pandemonium of the band's video perfectly illustrates the band's identity. It truly expresses the feeling of outlasting against society and kissing off mundanity.
Starting on April 9, Hot Mulligan will kick off their 'CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTOUR' headline tour with special guests Free Throw, Just Friends, and Charmer. The band will return to Europe this summer and are confirmed for the 2000 Trees Festival in London, England.
