House of Protection Release High Octane "Afterlife" Alongside Sophomore EP Announcement | THE NOISE

Hot on the heels of their first tour in Australia, experimental, heavy duo House of Protection -- comprised of Aric Improta and Stephen Harrison -- have announced their second EP, Outrun You All, out May 23. The first single, "Afterlife," kicks off the project, seeing the pair collaborate again with close friend and producer Jordan Fish, formerly of Bring Me The Horizon. Although the song sees them dial down the tempo, they don't lose an ounce of the explosive energy they've become known for as they demand your full attention.

The pummeling single thrives on whip-cracking sound effects, industrially groove-attacked melodies, and occasionally auto-tuned vocals. Brazen lyrics like "This is how I absolutely want to die/Go ahead and meet me in the afterlife," and layers of electronic elements are sandwiched between deafening riffs, grasping listeners with their larger-than-life breakdowns and raw, soaring choruses. It's a mind-melting sonic experience, and we thank them.

Reflecting on making the single, the band shared, "'Afterlife' was the second song we demoed, right after "It's Supposed to Hurt." It started with just the guitar stab and the whip sound. We liked it a lot, but ultimately, we pushed to avoid heavy half-time on 'GALORE.' We intentionally wanted to keep that whole first EP pretty fast. After our debut shows, we realized how much we missed the feeling live, so we revisited it and refined the ideas with Jordan and Nick. Now it's one of our favorites."

The accompanying music video, directed by Improta and Kevin Garcia, features a latex-clad, platform-wearing model and myriad fiery, trippy elements. The video is a visual feast, perfectly complementing the intense energy of the track. Like the track, the visual is an equally vivid and impactful experience that keeps ya on your toes from start to finish.

Later this month, House of Protection will feature British metalcore band Architects' song "Brain Dead" as part of their highly-anticipated album release. It's safe to say House of Protection has quickly become one of heavy music's most sought-after collaborators so far this year.
