Joey Valence & Brae Team Up With JPEGMAFIA In Electric Single “WASSUP”

Joey Valence & Brae have had an absolutely electric year, spoiling us with features from IDK and now JPEGMAFIA on their latest release, “WASSUP” the alt-punk, rap duo continue to come into their own sound with a modernization of a classic rap track into an explosive, high-energy club anthem.

Sampling Playa Poncho’s “What Up, Whatz Up," JVB gives a breath of fresh air to the 1995 track, with a sound that is truly their own, spitting fiery quips from the first verse, “You rappers soft//You think you hard, you really not //I feel like Gumby, uh, 'cause all I see is green//I hear your drum beats, yeah, you just a MIDI-me.” JVB is rising to the occasion and putting their sound against the best of the game (and best believe, they’re already on their way.)

Dropping a music video to accompany the single, the video, directed by and edited by Joey Valence, is a fun homage to the swagger-filled, run-and-gun, documentary style of Beastie Boys classic “So What Cha Want," all while retaining the unique, monstrously infectious and carefree energy that sets JVB apart.

“WASSUP” is an exciting peek at the new direction JVB is heading into following their sophomore project, NO HANDS released last June. With a slate of tour dates across Europe this summer, we are excited to see where the duo goes next.
