KennyHoopla is back and better than ever. The critically-acclaimed alternative rising star returns with “YOU NEEDED A HIT//,” his first single since 2022’s “DIRTY WHITE VANS//,” and in trademark KennyHoopla fashion, he doesn’t simply walk back into the spotlight; he explodes onto center stage. 

“YOU NEEDED A HIT//” is a blistering two-minute single that opens on a flurry of adrenaline electric guitars and a high-pitched yelp before the alternative artist delivers loosely connected political sentiments and existential musings. From start to finish, the track never quite lets up, pushing KennyHoopla’s already adrenaline-racing vision to its highest peak yet. If this is any indication as to what the next era for this artist holds, then we are on the edge of our setas. 

“Zakk [Cervini] and I got in the studio last year and made this in LA. It always felt like the perfect song to start a roll out with, so here we are! More music is on the way also,” shares KennyHoopla.

In addition to the new single, “YOU NEEDED A HIT//” arrives alongside an accompanying music video that places the electrifying single in a more sentimental light, as KennyHoopla is surrounded by his friends and dog. “This was honestly one of my favorite videos to shoot because I did it in the midwest and with my close friends. You see a bunch of them walking around the shots, even my dog is in it. It was really just hanging with the homies.”

“YOU NEEDED A HIT//” may have been a pointed message outwards to those more pressed by streaming numbers and marketing tactics than the art at the heart of it all, but it undoubtedly has all the trademarks of a hit. It’s unapologetic, infectious, and unashamedly KennyHoopla dialed up to 100.
