LA-via-Philly lo-fi R&B artist Kevitch, born Lindsey Kevitch, has reemerged with her latest single, "Secrets." In the dreamy R&B-induced effort, Kevitch lures listeners into a world full of lush instrumentation, smooth, layered vocals, and a plush soundscape that elicits blissful and beautiful nostalgia.
"Secrets" opens with a combination of spacy synths, lo-fi-beats, and the lulling sound of rain. Kevitch's relaxed, reverb-drenched vocals drape luxuriously over chill beats, asking repeatedly, "Can you keep a secret? Tell me that you mean it." The song oozes emotion, with its overall narrative alluding to an unexpected one-of-a-kind romantic connection. Kevitch's songwriting stands out with its intense vulnerability and her dense yet roomy sonic cadence also taking center stage.
"When I create music, I usually channel the melodies from feelings and imagination of scenes in my head," shares the rising artist. "I want to create movie scenes for people to tap into and feel like they're getting transformed into another world. Take them away from their day-to-day life. I want them to feel something. With 'Secrets,' the song is about meeting someone out of the blue, staying up all night talking, and sharing secrets into the morning. It's like, 'who would have seen it coming?' It's a feeling you've never felt with someone before. And I wanted to put people in that scene, let them feel how it feels to have that experience."
With the release of "Secrets," Kevitch aims to re-introduce herself to the world as a reluctantly lovesick romantic in her debut EP, which will drop later this year. The atmospheric project will include her two past releases, "Sunrise," which has generated over 24M streams, and "IDC," which has amassed 2.5M streams and was featured in Spotify's Chill Vibes playlist. "Sunrise" and "IDC" offer heavenly previews of what's to come with Kevitch's future releases. She evokes celestial imagery and passionate scenes that allow the listener's imagination to wander.
