LAUNDRY DAY Delivers Up a Dose of Feel-Good Indie Pop in "Damn Shame"


New York-based group LAUNDRY DAY’s latest release “Damn Shame” is a dose of feel-good indie-pop that captures the bittersweet nature of a budding relationship and yearning for a fleeting moment. “Going / Baby, are you already going? / Right in the middle of a moment / You can’t tell me you didn’t notice / Where this was going,” Sawyer Nunes’ smooth vocals echo atop a dreamy, resonant sonic background. The immersive track creates an atmosphere that invites listeners to live in the present moment, even if that moment may inevitably pass. 

Composed of Jude Lipkin, Sawyer Nunes, Henry Weingartner, and Henry Pearl, LAUNDRY DAY have established themselves at the forefront of the New York indie music scene. “Damn Shame” follows their 26-track album Younger Than I Was Before, and showcases an effortless and carefree sound that is quintessential to their sonic identity. The band’s decade-long friendship is evident in their seamless collaboration and gives listeners a look into indie pop that is unconventional, fresh, and expressive. 

As the track progresses, it builds into a cathartic bridge, seamlessly blending guitar-forward texture, and emotionally charged lyricism, “I can’t cry out / That’ll take some time / Even when I wanna shout / Oh, I / On the 405 /Lookin’ for an easy way out / Oh, I /We was talkin’ in the kitchen / Askin’ what you doin’ for a livin’ /Oh, I /I don’t know a damn thing." The quartet’s harmonies further elevate this track, creating an infectious chorus that begs you to hit replay. 

2024 has been an eventful year for LAUNDRY DAY, following a successful run supporting Teezo Touchdown on the European leg of the 'Spend The Night Tour' the band is poised to continue innovating in a new era of indie pop.
