MICHELLE Falls Into a Surreal Post-Breakup Spiral in "Cathy"

NYC collective MICHELLE, comprised of Sofia D'Angelo, Julian Kaufman, Charlie Kilgore, Layla Ku, Emma Lee, and Jamee Lockard, continues to dole out the hits leading up to their forthcoming album Songs About You Specifically, out September 27, with the release of "Cathy." Featuring their signature buoyant grooves contrasted with amusingly direct lyrics about loneliness and longing, they craft a deeply relatable and profound anthem for anyone who's gone through or going through heartache.

"Cathy" opens with a collage of gentle pop-infused percussion, warm guitar riffs, and a smooth piano arrangement. Lockard's gentle, velvety vocals croon over the lulling production, detailing the state of her love and sex life, stating, "Nobody wants to fuck / Guess it's me and me now." On the hook, she admits to missing the titular "Cathy" and not knowing where they're going in life. She sings to her beloved, "Find myself alone again without you, Cathy / I wanna be with you / You and me, Cathy / I wanna be with you."

Speaking on the track, MICHELLE shares, "'Cathy' is a soft indie song about being alone after a breakup and leaning into all the thoughts and patterns you know you shouldn't."

The accompanying music video, directed by Jake Lazovick and Richard Phillip Smith, is a moody visual that lies somewhere between reality and a Lynchian daydream. The video opens with Emma confronting herself in the mirror, wrestling with her feelings and a growing sense of isolation. Meanwhile, Julian and Charlie score the experience on piano and guitar, respectively, with Sofia, Layla, and Jamee dancing in the background.

MICHELLE just finished touring with Still Woozy as support on his 'Loveseat Tour.' They are set to return to the road for their headline North American tour, 'A Tour For You, Specifically,' embarking on October 30. The run includes live dates in Vancouver, Seattle, Denver, Los Angeles and more. MICHELLE will also perform two more dates with Still Woozy in NY at Pier 17 on October 24 and 25.
