no good Invites Us to Be Present in Debut Single "Tune Out"

Good days are usually sudden and immersive, a moment when all is temporal and not in full view. Hidden but happily so as the exploration is part of the fun—the sensory reveal that pulls you in, also known as tuning out. In no good’s debut single, we get the invitation to do just that, to put up our antenna, pull in the waves of emotions weathering above us... to be present.

Hailing from a small town outside of Toronto, less than ten thousand people small, it's hard not to feel the outer body anticipation of no good’s music, a state of creative isolation mulling and brewing into a healthy output. Immediately in "tune out," the unique qualities of no good's voice pull you in, as he rings through a checklist of anxieties pummeling from a pre-chorus into a stiffening guitar chord buttressed chorus, lyrically holding us with a big hug as we both drown in the heavy surf of modern life.

Speaking of the genesis of the song, no good shares, "Everybody hits this point, where the world becomes too much and too loud - overwhelmed and out of control. 'Tune Out' is about this feeling, when a beautiful thing happens... there’s a nothingness... a brief moment you can let go and release the weight. My generation needs to know it’s okay to not always be present. It’s okay to daydream, to let your guard down, to not be at your best. I want this song to feel like taking the deepest breath ever."

If you are hyperventilating, struggling to put the phone down while doom scrolling, working through something, then let no good be that friend that calmly mirrors deep breaths for you, reminding you to take in that air, that you aren’t alone. We all need a reason to daydream, especially when its sounds this good.
