Quarters Of Change Are "Heaven bound" In Enthralling New Single
New York's Quarters of Change douse listeners with their aggressively vulnerable storytelling in their latest single, "Heaven Bound." The final single off of their upcoming album Portraits, set to arrive on January 26, 2024, Quarters of Change continues to cement themselves as one of the fastest-moving forces coming out of the New York rock scene, enveloping rabid listeners across the globe along the way.
Opening with an intro reminiscent of The Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition," the band's alluring and bold instrumentation seeps across the track. Leaving space for air as the song develops, the song evolves as lead singer Ben Roter's soothing vocals weave in and out of rich layers of driving percussion patterns and satisfyingly plucky guitar riffs. The track climbs to a new plane, going from a danceable yet soothing sonic space to crashing rhythms and headbang-inducing production.
"'Heaven Bound' is about a period of nihilism, isolation, and addiction. Specifically using addiction to cope," shared Roter about the track. "It's about feeling detached from the world and searching for meaning. In the end, it's an anthem of acceptance - and realizing that we all have a beautiful, inevitable fate. We're all truly 'Heaven sent, heaven bound.'"
The new single follows the release of their previous releases, "What I Wanted," "Hollywood Baby," and "Do Or Die." Each track, which will also be featured on their upcoming album, is a fragment of the larger picture that will become Portraits. Arriving in early 2024, the band describes this body of work as their most authentic yet by saying, "In a way, it's our statement piece. It's who we are." The band will close out the year with a massive hometown show at New York's Webster Hall on December 9.
