Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez Drops the Empowering New Single "Better For You"

New Yorker Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez has just released her single "Better For You" and it’s a whole hypnotic vibe. Rich in jazz tones, the tune narrates the need for equality of pleasure and it is totally inspiring. The song touches on sex and how sometimes women change their behaviors in a heterosexual relationship to prioritize the man's pleasure. The artist raises awareness on the need for equal pleasure and respect in a sexual dynamic.

Her vocals are undeniably powerful and mighty, eliciting steamy vibes but with a fierce, crystal clear tone that gives a concise message. The production of “Better For You” has a tropical jazz essence which conducts a tender wash of dynamics. The rhythm of the piano flutters around like a jazz-boozed butterfly, floating across the piano intertwining a range of delicious melodies, while the drums are groove central. You cannot not bop to this, with the softest trumpet sounds and glassy, tapping, percussion. Her lyrics are frank, direct and it’s a joy. "Is it better for you if I don’t talk at all," she sings - there is an element of sass in raising awareness by straight up calling these men out and the social expectations.

The free spirit talks about "Better For You," sharing, "It also depicts the flip side of this, where we become or can become hooked on being the desired one; the way we come to need it, the way our identity becomes tied to this positioning. This is the ambiguity, the grey." Take your pleasure into your own hands and listen to "Better For You."
