redveil Gives Us "what3ver" We Want In Iridescent New Single

redveil kicked off the new year and a bold new era with the release of “what3ver,” a powerful follow-up to 2022's electrifying learn 2 swim and striking playing w/ fire EP. The Maryland native has established himself as a major player in hip-hop, collaborating with Denzel Curry, and joining him as support on the Melt My Eyez, See My Future tour, and linking up with JPEGMAFIA on the explosive track, “black enuff.” This synthesis of experimental hip-hop is clearly striking a chord, with redveil securing the sole feature on JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown’s 2023 collaborative album, SCARING THE HOES. “what3ver” displays the next evolution of redveil’s lyrical complexity, complementing the shimmering, other-worldly production.

Hitting at just under three minutes, the track is a meditation of an all-too-real desire to give so much of yourself to another, opening with the weary, repetitive, “whatever you want, whatever you like,” laying bare the anxieties of the narrator, as the track’s bridge approaches, “Maybe I’ll be satisfactory, if I’m easy on your eyes / I know I can get there soon/I just need a little bit more time.” This yearning intensifies into a plea for connection, “I just need like one more day, just to change your mind,” before the track crescendos into a haunting, chant-like repetition of “Go, go, go / Don’t save me.”

“what3ver “ is a stunning display of redveil’s artistic evolution, effortlessly blending lyricism and production with a raw exploration of fear and pursuit of greatness. It’s undeniable that redveil’s rise is meteoric, poised to become a key voice in the future of hip-hop.
