SAULT's 'Acts of Faith' Surprises and Disappears From the Internet

Infectiously funky, SAULT’S surprise project Acts of Faith is a kiss of deep soul and modern-day gospel, further solidifying SAULT as a once-in-a-lifetime act.

Deleting all content from their profile except for a captionless image of a vintage TV screen that reads the album title, SAULT has mastered the art of being cryptic. Their fervor for dismantling systems that do not center music nor its listeners lends itself to offering bodies of work on downloadable WAV files rather than uploading on streaming. They only grow more mysterious as they develop further into their careers, though it only feeds their allure.

Their eleventh studio album, Acts of Faith was previewed at their first-ever live performance in December 2023, an immersive show in London attendees say monumentally surpassed their expectations. They pulled off something never quite done before, though evidently, that’s their whole M.O. Subsequently, the act surprise-released the album via a WeTransfer link this past weekend, which has since expired.

The entire album flows as one cohesive song, softly landing at the 32-minute mark. Featuring vocals from suspected band members Cleo Sol and Chronixx, Acts of Faith is soft and grand, a medicinal R&B journey that’s spiritually uplifting. Storytelling seems to have taken more of a backseat this project, with more focus invested in instrumentation from alleged members Kadeem Clarke and Jack Peñate.

SAULT’s music speaks to the youngest child within, carelessly in love with anything that makes them feel, and the wisest members of our tribe, deeply appreciative of quality and endurance. It’s rare to witness a great in its rising, though the awareness of history writing itself commands a present awe of its brilliance.
