Selfish Sons Get Hearts Racing in Euphoric Single "Backseat Drive"

Australian alt-rock trio Selfish Sons, comprised of brothers Jordy and Finn Pol Bodetto and friend Jonty Carlson, continue to put out a steady stream of hard-hitting releases with their latest single, "Backseat Drive." With its euphoric guitar tones, charismatic vocals, and infectious low-fi synth hooks, this effortlessly enigmatic track, produced by Tom Eggert, signals a massive 2024 for the band.

"Backseat Drive" opens with a sonic slow burn that bursts into a collage of infectious guitar riffs, grooving bass lines, and catchy, pop-infused percussion patterns. The intensifying and driving instrumentation is the perfect accompaniment to lead singer Jordy's rich vocals, highlighting the charming yet unserious nature of the band's new song. The chorus erupts with feverish guitar strums and racing rhythms as passionate, soaring vocals hook the listener into the carefree production.

"Our latest records have all come from quite dark or emotional places," shares the band. "The guys and I are prone to overthought in the studio with our ideas, so with this song we wanted to keep things lighthearted and not try too hard. The song came together in only a few hours, and the demo had such a simple charm that we fell in love with. It just felt so good to dance to in the kitchen really. Less is more sometimes."

Since relocating from Brisbane to the United States, the band has grown tremendously, securing some incredible gigs, including opening for the Jonas Brothers in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, Australia. They have also been selected to support iconic hip-hop artist Lil Wayne in concerts across Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Nebraska. The band is eager to continue showcasing their journey, meeting fans on their travels, and evolving their artistry along the way.
