SHOOP (Brandon Shoop) Launches His Solo Project With EP, never better


Multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter SHOOP fearlessly leaps into his own solo career with his debut EP, never better. For the uninitiated, SHOOP has been making strides as an artist, creating hits for everyone from ROLE MODEL to Dijon, and even spent time drumming for Junior Varsity on LANY's A Beautiful Blur World Tour. Now, he steps into his own spotlight, delivering a delightful seven-track collection loaded with infectious, endorphin-rush-inducing energy.

SHOOP on creating his own solo project, "I started doing this out of necessity, because I really wanted to enjoy the process again. It was mainly about having a good time and creating music I would listen to. It feels like you'll actually get to know the person who's singing. These songs are synonymous with my personality; it's almost like a fast track to understanding me. If you choose to read into it, there's a message, but it's definitely fun."

The opening track, "CAPRIS," captures the essence of summer, with acoustic guitar-led and low-key percussion creating a breezy vibe as he croons, "I like girls, you know them girls, with them girly cigarettes." The catchy production, reminiscent of 90s pop and alternative styles, is infused with SHOOP's playful twist. Despite the sunny instrumentation, the lyrics reveal a struggle with toxic relationships that offer fleeting highs but leave him feeling used and lost. This contrast invites listeners to connect with themes of change and overcoming destructive patterns, inspiring hope and resilience."

The rest of the EP is stellar, with standout songs like the dancey, invigorating "honey" and the synth-infused "little piece," but "YOUR PLACE" is truly something special. It's a nostalgic effort that sees SHOOP open up about longing for the past, when things were simpler and when being in sync with someone was easier. He conveys a desire to escape from his current reality and find solace in the innocence and comfort of being with a loved one, away from life's ever-evolving challenges.

The closing track, "blessing in disguise!", is a lively blend of pop, funk, R&B, and rock that celebrates unexpected love as a gift. It evokes a warm, early-2000s beach-movie vibe, bringing to mind summer nights with friends and new romance. The lyrics highlight the joy of discovering someone special amid chaos, especially on the hook as he sings, "There′s nothing like a blessing in disguise and I love it/ I love it when she kiss me on my eyes/ And I love it/ It's better than all the other times/ To know is to love her for the rest of your life.""
