Rising folk-pop star Sierra Spirit embodies full devotion in “bleed you,” her new single that arrives alongside the announcement of debut EP coin toss, out October 10 via Giant Music. Joining a range of confessionals like “i’ll be waiting (pug)” and “televangelic,” “bleed you” is a revealing ode to all-encompassing love and gives fans an idea of what to expect from the upcoming project. From discussing mental health, loss, and romance, Spirit’s debut EP is primed to embody all of the complexities and struggles of growing up, set to beautiful Americana-inspired music.

Sonically, “bleed you” transports listeners straight to Spirit’s childhood. Evoking the spirit of Oklahoma with a beautiful banjo and mesmerizing slide guitar, the track honors its author’s country roots. Like most classic lovelorn songs, Spirit pours her heart out about an all-encompassing romance. She sings passionate lyrics like, “I’ll bleed you until your blood is mine” and “I can hardly wait to feel you in my bones.” The love Spirit details is the type of love where two bodies could become one, and it still wouldn’t feel close enough.

This closeness is conveyed through the comforting production of “bleed you.” The contemplative and visual nature of the track matches its longing to a tee. There’s a gorgeous echo in Sprit’s vocals that will have listeners hanging onto every word. On the inspiration for the track, Spirit asks, “Have you ever loved someone to the point that it scares you? You want in their skin and in their head. Nothing is close enough and no amount of their attention is good enough - you’ll always want more.”

“bleed you” is another impressive installation to Spirit’s growing catalog, offering her necessary perspective to the indie folk-pop world. With her thoughtful pen and steady vocal performance, there’s a bright future ahead for this rising star. Looking forward to her debut EP out this fall, there’s no stopping Sierra Spirit from sharing her truth.
