Sir Chloe Teases Her Haunting Debut Album 'I Am The Dog' With the Addictive "Hooves"

Sir Chloe, the project of vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Dana Foote, embraces the chaos in her latest heart-pounding single, "Hooves." The single sees the band—guitarist Teddy O'Mara, bassist Emma Welch, keyboardist Austin Holmes, and drummer Palmer Foote—fronted by Foote who infuse early aspects of Sir Chloe projects' warm, campy whimsy with a new-found narcotic bite, creating a paradoxical romp that is all too addictive.

"Hooves" demonstrates Sir Chloe's rich tapestry of gritty guitars, melodic chord shifts, and lead singer Foote's nonchalant vocal delivery before diving headfirst into reckless abandon. The chorus is fabulously obscure yet utterly intriguing, with Foote's vocal delivery oscillating impulsively between campy nonchalance and reckless abandon as she sings, "I don't wanna hold hands / I don't wanna hold hands / You've been chewing my hair / Over and over again."

The music video, directed by Molly Hawkins and Grant Spanier, is a highly-stylized visual with bold, grungy aesthetics and an air of mystique. It opens with a scene of Foote standing alone in a Twin Peaks-esque red room, sporting a lamb on her shoulders. Then, as the music intensifies, we see her go through a series of varied rooms and manic montages, featuring a growing number of sheep and lambs serving as her only source of company.

"Hooves" is the lead single from Sir Chloe's debut album, I Am the Dog, slated for release on May 19. Additionally, Sir Chloe will embark on their "I Am The Tour" tour later this year, a run of headline dates in North America and Europe, as well as previously confirmed support for a co-headline tour with Phoenix and Beck, which will also feature support from Japanese Breakfast, Weyes Blood, and Jenny Lewis.
