The Hails Roll With Life’s Punches On New Single “Story of You and Me”

On their first release of 2026, The Hails are telling the “Story of You and Me,” a bouncing single about the importance of taking the cards life deals you and playing them as they lay.

“Story of You and Me” was built out of The Hails’ desire to be physically in the room together, creating music. Complicating matters? The fact that the band’s members are scattered across the Eastern seaboard in Miami, DC, and Brooklyn. So, they rented a house in Florida and spent the summer together, crafting their new collection of songs.

“We missed the creative spontaneity that comes only from playing in the same room with other people — a process that birthed our biggest songs ‘Younger’ and ‘Stay,’” the band said in a statement. “For too long we were unable to create in this way and we felt creatively starved because of it.”

“Story of You and Me” is an exciting taste of what can happen when The Hails get together. The frenetic single builds quickly into a solid pop-rock track, with a driving drumbeat and warm guitar line that adds lush layers to the song.

The song’s lyrics explore a relationship in all its glory, with lead singer Robbie Kingsley encouraging both himself and the object of his affection to “take a chance, it’s human nature.”

While there are petty complaints about little wrongs done to the narrator, he looks at it with a good sense of humor, declaring, “Truth can only find itself in comedy.” The song ultimately encourages both the singer and his lover to remember everything, good and bad: “Take a breath and hope we don’t forget // to document // the story of you and me.”

"'Story of You and Me’ portrays a relationship through the lens of film genre — truth that can only found in comedy, playing the roles that we're cast, and how we react when stunts don't go to plan,” Kingsley explained.

Relationships can be tough to figure out, but on “Story of You and Me,” The Hails prove they’re always worth it — even if just for the memories.
