Kicking down the door and ready to party with delightful Latin production at the helm, the sweat-inducing beats combine splendidly with VALÉ's silky smooth vocals. With lyrics detailing the day and the life of a "fit mami," she oozes confidence with every line, inspiring listeners to unearth their inner baddie and live their best lives. When asked how listeners can embrace their inner "fit mami," she shared, "Being a fit mami is whatever you want it to be! Everyone already has a fit mami within them. Fit mamis are confident, amazing people who do what they love and live life to the fullest. There's no rule book for being a fit mami. Just be yourself, embrace your uniqueness, and you've got it!"
"'fit mami' was written really fast... We were waiting for a writer to arrive to the session, and we started messing around with this clubby-type beat," shares the Barranquilla local about the writing process. "It all felt right; we wrote the song in around 30 minutes. I believe it started with me saying the beat was reminding me of an aerobics or Zumba class, then I said something about this song being for the fit girls, fit mamis, and there it was! It stuck! I want people to feel amazing when they listen to 'fit mami!' Whether you're working out, getting ready to go out, just in your room, by the pool, whatever you choose to do, I hope you hear it and you immediately get up to dance."
Accompanied by a colorful video, the visual shows VALÉ in a complete "fit Barbie" aesthetic, hitting choreography to the addictive beat. "I always envisioned an 80's aerobics class-inspired music video for "fit mami," shares the artist. "I think it's such a cute and lighthearted idea for a song that is meant to be just that! The video was actually split into two separate shoots; the first one was the bathroom setting, and the second was the sleepover with the choreography. I decided to add choreography to the video months after the first part was shot because it simply needed it! It wasn't complete without it. Jessica Doll was the creator of the choreo, and she absolutely killed it! I hadn't danced in years, and she made me feel very confident, and it was a blast."
"fit mami," is a vibrant follow-up to her last release, the smooth and sweet "chill like that." These are just a taste of what's to come on VALÉ's upcoming debut EP under the sun, set to release on August 2. After teasing some of the songs during The Driver Era's spring East Coast tour earlier this year, VALÉ is thrilled for fans to finally hear, sing, and dance along to each and every track she has so carefully crafted.
