Willow Avalon Ignites a Passionate Love Affair in "Something We Regret"

There’s something about a less-than-ideal relationship that just keeps you coming back for more, and no one knows this better than rising country-folk star Willow Avalon. In her latest single, “Something We Regret,” Avalon dives into her untamed desires and addiction to her lover.

Avalon immediately draws listeners in with a whispery count of “1,2,3,4” before drums and guitar join the fray. The instruments have a classic country twang but with a darker feel that adds to the overall sultriness and desire of the song. The song opens with the chorus with Avalon singing, “I love you like sugar, you love me like sex / Put us both together, we'll do something we regret / I shoot you like whiskey and you sip me like red / Put us both together, we'll do something we regret.”

“Something We Regret” is certainly a situationship anthem, but it’s a welcome departure from a classic situationship ballad. Avalon is fully aware that that relationship isn’t meant to last, and isn’t necessarily healthy, but she is fully enjoying it while she can. The lyrics feel like Avalon and her lover are on equal footing in the situationship with both of them aware of the addictive nature of the relationship. Avalon won’t be blindsided when the relationship ends, she may even be the one to end it herself.

“Something We Regret” is set to appear on Avalon’s upcoming album Southern Belle Raisin' Hell, set to release on January 17. Avalon will be traveling the US on a headline tour in January and February, and in March will head across the pond for the UK portion of her tour.
