Yeat and EsDeeKid Reach a New High on "Made It On Our Own"

Portland and Liverpool have more in common than you may think. Two of the most alluring artists of modern underground rap, Yeat and EsDeeKid come from different crevices of the world. Yet, their individual sounds dance in perfect harmony on “Made It On Our Own,” a boisterous self-made anthem in which EsDeeKid so humbly declares “I made ten mill while I'm faceless.”

The first single teeing up Yeat's highly-anticipated project, ADL (A Dangerous Lyfe), “Made It On Our Own" is a meeting of like minds. Both have mastered floating on a heavily distorted bass, bringing hip-hop back home to its SoundCloud roots. Yeat and EsDeeKid have long been compared, and it was only right that they finally give fans what they’ve been salivating for.

The song’s accompanying visual, a creation birthed from the very legendary Director X, takes place in Drake’s Canadian estate, fueling rumors about a possible EsDeeKid appearance on Iceman. Beyond that, the visual speaks to the immeasurable heights both artists have ascended, making themselves comfortable in the most coveted echelon. Featuring a surprise cameo from Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Yeat and EsDeeKid have aligned themselves with a particular caliber of peer, shedding their come-up and settling comfortably in their arrival.

It’s no secret that both artists have tapped into an overflowing valve of success. In just a short amount of time, EsDeeKid holds the highest daily streaming rap album globally, with his monthly listeners increasing by nearly one million weekly. Yeat, in the meantime, has birthed a genre entirely his own, unconventionally meeting hip-hop with hyperpop and accidentally becoming one of the most sensational rap acts ever since.

Being that “Made It On Our Own" comes just a week after Yeat popped out during EsDeeKid's headlining sold-out Los Angeles show, it’s clear both acts cosign one another and recognize the significance of their kinship.
