phem's "Sorry Mama" Will Have You Confessing Your Sins

You know that thing you did that you will take with you to the grave before ever telling your parents about it? Los Angeles-based artist phem has a few of those things, but she’s letting the secrets rise to the surface in her latest single “Sorry Mama.” Shortly after dropping the Machine Gun Kelly - assisted track, phem already has fans confessing their sins to their mothers  on Twitter.

“Sorry Mama” is filled with glimpses of phem’s past with allusions of her Catholic background taking center stage. The openly queer artist unpacks her battle of grappling with the conservative ideals and beliefs bestowed originating from her family, whilst living the life that she wanted to live, a life deemed inherently in opposition to what she was taught. The smooth-as-butter production carries the song in a gentle but apathetic manner, adding emphasis to the detached nature of phem's apologetic verses.

"Sorry Mama" promotes phem’s dynamic personality while highlighting her range as an artist. The single comes nearly four months after the release of her EP VACUMHEAD back in late September, which featured the two standout singles, "GRIM REAPER" and "WHO CARES". The genreless icon on the rise first made a name for herself with her 2017 single  "Just Friends," featuring G-Eazy. The song has accumulated over 10 million streams on Spotify and much like the Los Angeles-based musician and producer is continuing to grow.

The next time you're out doing that one thing that you know your parents probably wouldn't approve of, make sure you're blasting "Sorry Mama" so that you can continue living your best life.
