AUGUST 08 Unravels Friends-with-Benefits Relationships In "Simple Pleasures"

Coming in hot from the 88rising crew is AUGUST 08's trademark fusion of electronic and R&B goodness that has earned himself a well-deserved slot on Red Bull's 2019 Artists to Watch list. Since the Los Angeles native just released his groundbreaking debut album FATHER last year, it's surprising that he's already written for big names like Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, and Lil Wayne. AUGUST 08 is continuing his streak of radio-ready bangers with his dance-y new single, "Simple Pleasures."

"Simple Pleasures" is layered with club-friendly electronics and crushing synths that'll make you dance your emotions out underneath the shimmering disco ball. With straightforward lyricism, "Simple Pleasures" is an upbeat track all about risky friends-with-benefits relationships. AUGUST 08 describes a situation in which both parties willingly started off as friends with benefits, but then one person eventually caught feelings for the other...yikes.

On "Simple Pleasures," AUGUST 08 shared with triple j,

"I feel like I wear my feelings on my sleeve but I always tend to throw those feelings onto someone else, 'No one love harder than I do!' but it's always me that's loving hard. The song is about her being in love with me, and being all over me, but in reality all the feelings I'm speaking about are the feelings I have."
