bby's "Fuggit" Is Pure, Unadulterated Chaos
London-based alternative band bby are chaos incarnate on their new single, “Fuggit." This release signifies another daring leap for the five-piece, vocalist Benjy Gibson, bassist Deon Graham, drummer Tom Parkin, and guitarists Jessy Jacquet-Cretides and Tommaso Medica, as they continue their meteoric global ascent.
The single bottles the frantic energy of their live-show into a three minute experience of pure, unadulterated energy. With its pulsating bass lines, crunchy guitar riffs, pounding percussion, and intoxicating vocals, captures the essence of surrendering to chaos, of reaching a point where you throw up your hands and say “fuggit” when nothing seems to make sense anymore. The chorus invites you to shout along, transforming apathy into freedom and this harmonious blend of recklessness and catharsis showcases the band at their most unrestrained. It's scrappy. It's filled with fury. It's fuggin awesome.
The accomapnying video sees the band performing live in the back of their friend Oskar's van. Piled into the confined space and figthing to stay balanced, they burst with energy from the start, upping the ante when the back door to the van opens and Gibson bolts out, only to be left behind and chasing the van down to rejoin his bandmates.
The track follows the success of their last single “Afters." The jammy effort features a story of a one-sided romance adorned with honest vocals and chill instrumentals, exploring the brutal yearning that happens when you pine for someone you're not sure is into you too. The band just wrapped up a massive tour with indie darlings Royal Otis, stopping in major cities like New York, Boston, Washington D.C., and Dallas. Bringing their tightly wound fusion of intricate guitar work, propulsive basslines, and emotionally charged lyricism, their live shows have become known for their intensity, part concert, part collective catharsis, with fans packing into DIY spaces and festival tents alike.
