Burry Is Tired of Blaming Astrology in “Scorpio Sun”

Astrology is a huge part of today’s pop culture scene. Knowing your sun, moon, and rising sign is just as common as knowing your favorite color or your go to coffee order. It has become an integral part of people’s personalities. While this can be a fun and low stakes way to connect with the people around us, it can also become a crutch for people’s faults. Blaming your shortcomings on your astrological sign can be much easier than taking accountability for your negative actions. Rising pop artist Burry (they/them) is fed up with this lack of accountability and is calling it out head on in their new single “Scorpio Sun.”

Burry’s earnest voice floats above a stripped back instrumentation as they immediately call out their partner’s bad habit singing “Scorpio sun / Don’t blame your mean heart / On your goddamn zodiac sign.” Accompanied by a strumming acoustic guitar, the lyrics are allowed to shine, every biting word hits exactly where Burry wants it to. The middle section is where Burry’s calm composure breaks and their anger takes center stage. Pounding drums join the fray as Burry begs their partner to “Snap back to reality / Please.” The strumming acoustic guitar returns to round out the song the same way it started, with Burry doing everything they can to drive home their frustration with their partner’s lack of accountability. The song’s final moments feature a whispered voice saying “I’m tired. I think I’ll just go home.”

“Scorpio Sun” is Burry’s fifth single of 2025. They have a string of live shows lined up for the summer, including the pride festivities in their hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Loud Women Fest in London, known for amplifying female, trans, and non-binary-powered punk, indie, and alternative music.
