GRAMMY-nominated, Platinum-certified singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope is back with another punchy, pop-punk banger with the release of her latest single, "Eye Contact. The track touches on experiences of betrayal and its lingering impact while releasing those emotions of frustration and confusion. It can be wrong to come back from an experience of betrayal, especially from someone you thought cared about you in the same way you did them. But Pope hopes that with this track, listeners remember that it's okay to feel hurt and that you can overcome this, despite how long it could take and the bumps along the way.

The song starts with a mighty punch, with Pope singing, "You said you'd never tell me goodbye/ You left in the dark/ I guess you were right/Straight to my face/ And all out of time/ Now I hate eye contact." The gut-punching guitar riffs, thrumming bass lines, and crashing percussion fill the air as she continues to describe how she was lured in "like a magnet" and that now, as a result of being betrayed, she'll "...never see the color blue, the same again/ I'll never feel the spark of love and let it in/ I'll never get lost in a moment I'll regret/I'll never let you back under my skin."

In a statement from a press release, Pope said, "I wanted to write a song about the lasting effects a liar has on someone else. Sometimes, the very thought of maintaining eye contact with someone after being betrayed can feel impossible. I wanted to compliment the lyric with a heavy approach sonically, and I feel like that really gets the frustration across."

Last year, Pope returned triumphantly to pop-punk by releasing her single, "People That I Love Leave." Having started her career as the frontwoman of beloved pop-punk band Hey Monday, the track marked a return to form for Cassadee. Following that, she shared "Almost There," which showed a different side of Cassadee that she's never explored before with her songwriting. She also joined fellow vocal powerhouse Taylor Acorn for her latest single, "Coma," which Cassadee also helped co-write.

She recently released a new rock version of her massive hit, "Wasting All These Tears." This track kickstarted Cassadee's career in country music and continues to be one of her biggest songs (with over 95 million streams on Spotify alone). This marks a genuine full-circle moment for Cassadee as she continues to make her move back into her pop-punk roots, further cementing her place in this scene.
