Charlotte Sands Releases Empowering "Use Me" Alongside LP Announcement | THE NOISE

Prolific breakout pop/rock star Charlotte Sands sets herself free on her latest single, "use me." It's a self-love anthem about realizing you're enough just the way you are and being okay with not pleasing everyone. The track is the lead single from Charlotte's long-awaited debut album, can we start over?, releasing on January 24.

Opening with a collection of rumbling instrumentation and rich vocals, Sands reveals that she has been burned at the stake without a trial and that "It's your world we're living in/ I could prove my innocence/ But you'd still make me drown in your denial." Through with the toxicity surrounding her, she belts, "Guess I'm not who you thought/ It's okay it's okay/ It's all good, you can hate me/ Am I not what you want?" as crashing percussion, reeling guitar riffs, and thrumming bass lines frame her soaring vocals.

"We wrote 'use me' at a time where I was constantly trying to please everyone around me and felt like I was continuously coming up short of their expectations," says Charlotte. "No matter how hard I tried or how much I gave, it never felt like I was good enough. This song is about finally letting go of that pressure and accepting myself for who I actually am instead of the version that other people want me to be. Creating this song was a really therapeutic experience, and I felt a million times lighter afterwards. I hope it makes you feel powerful and reminds you to not put too much weight on other people's opinions of you. Only you truly know who you are."

The single comes from the independent artist's upcoming debut album, described as the culmination of a lifelong dream and a project she waited to undertake until it aligned perfectly with her artistic vision. "The inspiration behind the title can we start over? came while writing a song for the album about the idea of restarting a relationship and the idea of beginning again or reintroducing yourself to someone," Sands says. "I've changed so much over the last few years personally and in my career, and I love the concept of starting over as who I am now with the information and knowledge I've gained. It's not about forgetting the past or regretting our choices but more so letting go of the previous version of ourselves and meeting each other where we are at this moment in the phases that we're currently in. I think this album for me represents exactly that, standing firmly where I am as the person I am today."

In addition to releasing new music, Charlotte will continue her relentless tour schedule with a fall US run supporting The Band CAMINO + Bad Suns starting tomorrow, followed by a European arena run with pop superstars 5 Seconds of Summer. The past year has seen Charlotte share the stage with high-profile artists like Yungblud, My Chemical Romance, The Maine, Simple Plan, and PVRIS, including her first US headline tour last fall.
