Clinton Kane Is Tired of Looking and Hurting For Love in "BITTERSWEET"

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Clinton Kane has shared his latest song "BITTERSWEET," expanding his catalog of vulnerable pop bangers.

"BITTERSWEET" wastes no time, introducing Kane's rich vocals amid a wave of racing instrumentation. He reminisces on the pitfalls of falling in love with the wrong people, weaving his soaring vocals in and out of climatic layers of driving guitar strums, thrumming bass lines, and a persistent, synthesized piano loop. A frenetic percussion kicks into high gear on the hook while the 24-year-old's vocals tense as he professes the gut-wrenching line, "I guess love isn't meant for me."

"It's sort of depressing because it's about giving up on looking for love. I've always been a romantic since I was a kid," shares Kane about the single. "I wanted to get to a place where I could find someone. My goal is to marry the love of my life, have a family, and do music. It's a box I need to tick. Nevertheless, 'BITTERSWEET' is about trying to find love so many times and not finding anything. It feels good and so shit all at once, hence 'BITTERSWEET.'"

The accompanying Bryant-directed music video is a sci-fi-infused visual that sees a cyborg version of Kane being constructed limb by limb. After falling asleep under the bright fluorescent lights of the lab, we cut to footage of the artist hooked up to a mysterious helmet, witnessing surrealistic scenes of himself in a car crash, sinking underwater, wrecking the lab, and as an astronaut traversing the moon.

The track ushers in a new era for Kane ahead of his forthcoming project AND ALL I'VE LOVED, I'VE LOVED ALONE, which will be out later this year. The project will feature "BITTERSWEET" and "DANCING ALL ALONE," the latter of which was released earlier this year.
