d4vd Wishes His Ex Well in Heart-Tugging Ballad "There Goes My Baby"

Leave it to Houston, Texas phenom d4vd to write THE ballad of the summer. His latest single, "There Goes My Baby," is a soulful lovelorn ballad that sees the breakout star expressing his admiration for his once significant other who has already moved on to someone new. Instead of telling his story through the classic lens of the "if you love something, set it free" mentality, he wants to see his ex find peace and happiness with someone else.

The single strays away from his more alternative-leaning preferences, which shine on songs like "Romantic Homicide" and "Here With Me." Instead, he embraces a more bluesy, gospel-inspired sound, led by guitar and organ, that builds throughout the track. "Are you sure that you want more?" he asks. "If it's from him, why did you waste all my time? / You were bored, and I was alone, Feels like someone's taking my life." Instead of putting the blame for why things ended on her, d4vd realizes that he might be the problem. It makes for a very emotional and sobering record that will tug the heartstrings of anyone going through something similar.

"This is a song I wrote about letting go of someone you love and letting them become their own person," shared the artist. "Watching them become that person and realizing that you may have been the problem, but also being happy for the person they've become. It's a mature view on losing someone to someone else."

d4vd is currently on the road for his 'My House Is Not A Home' tour. He recently played an all-too-rare headline show in London, packing out Camden's landmark KOKO venue. Once he returns state-side, he's billed to perform at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago.
