d4vd Comes Into Full Bloom in Debut Album 'WITHERED'
If there is anything d4vd will do, it’s bare his complete all for his music. He bleeds into every melody, traces of marrow found within every synth and crevice. WITHERED is the artist’s most sacrificial offering yet, a debut album that leaves every part of his psyche undone.
Journeying through the organic evolution of a rose, from its fragrant and complete bloom to its last fallen petal, d4vd proves there cannot be expansion without a few broken bones. Love can only be found after being lost, healing the evidence of what was once destruction.
The alt-pop project features hits like “Feel It,” “One More Dance,” and the Kali Uchis-assisted “Crashing.” Fans, however, were most looking forward to hearing the unreleased songs d4vd has been perfecting over the years, including the gut-wrenching singles “Say It Back” and “Ghost.” “Invisible String Theory” is a hopeful interlude that explores a connection both inevitable and inescapable, bridging longing with yearning with crashing into one another.
“The devil told me you were good for me / My mother told me he would lie” are the haunting lyrics to “Afterlife,” the closing track that mourns love and the intoxication of what could have been.
Beyond all else, d4vd is a success magnet. Everything he touches turns to gold, sustaining over 30 million monthly Spotify listeners only a few years into his career. This can only be attributed to his raw authenticity, an artist who, from the very beginning, pledged devotion to honesty and integrity. He has only ever made music that has been an extension of his true self, never seduced by the allure of the status quo. This has rewarded him with a passionate fandom, world tour, and impenetrable stardom.
“You have no idea the blood sweat and tears that came with trying to create this project over the past two years,” d4vd shares about the project via Instagram, in awe of it finally belonging to the world. “Constantly starting over and over and over until there was nothing left on this audio landscape of a canvas than thoughts, melodies, and emotions that were unequivocally me.”
