Meet Maz, the effortlessly cool electro-pop artist with a new single that will be stuck in your head for weeks. The moniker of Marley Guevara and hailing from a small town in Utah, Maz has released a slew of singles since her first in 2022. This year, she’s ready to offer her first full collection of songs; her debut EP NPC. The title aligns with Maz’s soft computerized sound, perfectly encapsulating the vibe of the sonic world she’s introducing. Although you’ll have to wait to hear the full EP until April 4th, today’s lead single release “Kiss Kiss Boom” is sure to tide you over and then some.

Embodying the best of gen-z’s pop attitude, Maz also pulls inspiration from classic acts such as Blondie, Santigold, and Daft Punk. “Kiss Kiss Boom” is a strong intro for new listeners, marrying the electro-pop quality of Gorillaz with the soft floating nature of Stereolab. Her undeniably smooth delivery immediately pulls you in, sliding on the plucking synth beat with ease. Over a track that glitters and reflects, she sings “No contact is harder than kiss, kiss, boom” using the vaguely intriguing lyrics to signify the explosive nature of loving someone toxic. The delivery of the track’s title gets more addicting as Maz goes on, making “Kiss Kiss Boom” a successful minimalist track that still manages to fill your ears and soul.

Maz heads out on tour supporting Wallice starting in Denver on February 13th and ending in Los Angeles on February 21st. With music so instantly captivating, we have no doubt listeners will tune in for her debut EP release just a few weeks later. We can’t wait to follow Maz’s journey through 2025 and beyond!
