Emmit Fenn Challenges the Norm on "Edge of The Dark"
Life is full of opposites: up vs. down, good vs. evil, success vs. failure, dark vs. light. For one to exist, the other must too. In his single, "Edge of The Dark," Emmit Fenn challenges the overwhelmingly negative connotation of darkness and reminds listeners of the light that will inevitably follow.
The dark and sultry track opens with a deep and rich drum pattern building up to a brief pause before opening into a light, nearly ethereal production. The track's format mirrors the endless cycle between dark and light and serves as a reminder that both are necessary to maintain life's intricate balance. Between the track's ingenious production and lyricism, the level of thought and intricate details that Fenn incorporates into his music is undeniable.
"Edge of the Dark" is the first release off of Fenn's highly anticipated debut album, Far From Here. Fenn says of the album,
"The main theme of Far From Here is finding hope in vulnerability. With this album, I wanted to be completely open about my past, on a very intimate level, and show how I've grown from it."
With his constant evolution and unwillingness to conform to one type of sound, the rest of the album will undoubtedly showcase Fenn's versatility as an artist. Listen to "Edge of The Dark" below:
