Home Is Where Release Addictive Single Ahead Upcoming Album 'The Whaler' | THE NOISE

Florida emo band Home Is Where are back with a bang with the release of their latest single, "Yes! Yes! A Thousand Times Yes!" The single, which is on their upcoming album The Whaler (but more on that later), is a sun-drenched hit that tells a story of fake love and trying to find normalcy in chaos.

The track opens with a collage of persistent percussion, summery guitar riffs, and thrumming bass lines. Then, as the song ramps up, the band launch listeners into a wall of sound full of emotional vocals and crashing instruments. According to singer and lyricist Brandon MacDonald, the single tells the story of two people faking normalcy and the normalcy of faking. "The idea or even the image, no matter how altered or perfectly copied, of love is no substitute for the real," they further explained.

"The idea for the record came to me in the spring of 2021 when I realized I wasn't doing too hot mentally and had a nervous breakdown," leader Brandon MacDonald said in a press release. "A lot of it is a very negative record, which was scary to write because I was being honest with myself and allowing a lot of fucked up thoughts to be in the songs. I was more vulnerable than I was used to being in art."

The accompanying music video, directed by Texas Smith, is a visual journey that follows a woman while she listens to a tape recorded by a loved one on the beach at dawn. Viewers follow her as she walks through the woods, visiting abandoned RVs and wandering around town. The nostalgic film footage then cuts unexpectedly to footage of the band furiously brushing their teeth to the point of their gums bleeding.

The single is from the band's upcoming album, The Whaler, out June 16th.

Produced by Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden in Oakland, California, The Whaler is a concept album "about getting used to things getting worse," according to a press release. It follows Home Is Where's 2021 breakout full-length, I Became Birds, and last year's Dissection Lesson, a screamo split with Record Setter.

Home Is Where will hit the road for a headlining U.S. tour this summer, making their way across the East Coast and Midwest in July. After a break, the band will resume the tour on the West Coast in September. Smidley will open the July leg, and Awakebutstillinbed and Your Arms Are My Cocoon will support on the West Coast.
