IDK and Joey Valance & Brae Team Up to Deliver Lucky New Single “CLOVER”

Fresh off St. Patrick’s Day, IDK and Joey Valance & Brae have us feeling plenty lucky with their latest collaboration, “CLOVER.” The unsuspecting team delivers an in-your-face yet laid-back track that perfectly blends JVB’s hard-hitting delivery with IDK’s relaxed production.

The song’s undeniably fun feel is set from the get-go with the opening line borrowed from the world’s favorite sponge, “Oh brother, this guy stinks.” From there, each artist delivers flashy verses with lines like, “Hotel room always got two beds / One for me and one for my bread” and “I’m in the lead, top priority… You made a year what I made a week.” The vibe of the chorus is a refreshing contrast, featuring IDK’s verbed out vocals earnestly singing, “Wishing for a four-leaf clover / Loving you is all I know” before JVB’s refrain “They on my dick, shit” reminds listeners that every song can use a little humor.

While IDK and JVB aren’t lyrically taking themselves too seriously on this track, the song’s production and flow are not to be taken lightly. JVB’s signature '90s-influenced flow is certainly central to the song’s overall nostalgic feel, while IDK’s glimmering production on the choruses infuses the track with a more modern texture. It makes for an otherworldly experience, balancing the comfort of past influences with the shiny newness of a futuristic sound.

The single comes on the heels of IDK’s latest album BRAVADO + INTiMO…(continued), a deluxe revisit to the artist’s 2024 album of the same title. It’s also the second single feature of the year for JVB, who have kept busy on tour since releasing their sophomore album No Hands in June of last year.
