Jhariah And Pinkshift Come For The Music Industry On Explosive Single "EAT YOUR FRIENDS"

Brooklyn's Jhariah continues to blow up the scene with his latest genre-breaking single, "EAT YOUR FRIENDS." The track sees the artist team up with Baltimore punk band Pinkshift to create a blown-out, off-the-wall techno-punk exploration of jealousy and competition and how the music industry, like all others, pits friends against one another.

The wildly catchy song off the bat is fueled with attention-grabbing and theatrical emo instrumentals that make way for Jhariah's dramatic vocals and explosive chemistry with Pinkshift. Bombastic, rebellious guitar riffs and crushing drum patterns serve as the backdrop as the singer explores how his friends are often pitted against one another, igniting jealousy and competition rather than creating space. In his clever and vibrant lyrics, they describe how they want even more than what they have, concluding that they must be ruthless and betray their friends to win more, but at what cost?

According to the press release, the song reflects on the struggles of the music industry. "You feel like there's so little to go around," he said. "I'm a very competitive person, but also, I don't want to be in competition with my friends. I want to be doing this together. It's a very tricky thing." He added, "There's a constant frustration about how few opportunities there are for people that look like us and how we're often pitted up against each other for them."

The accompanying music video, directed by Jhariah themself, is a chaotic visual that finds the members of Pinkshift and Jhariah first fighting for the mic and for the right to perform and having an all-out brawl in the woods. As the track progresses, the foes find themselves faced by a surprising adversary, the band Pollyanna, who also come in to knock them out of the limelight, tying them up and caging them in the middle of a field god knows where.

"EAT YOUR FRIENDS" follows the success of Jhariah's last release, "RISK RISK RISK." By fusing dance-punk, emo, prog-rock, and hardcore with hip-hop, Latin pop, and more, the track is a testament to the rising artist's ability to deliver passionately crafted music that expands the mind and breaks sonic borders.
