Kacy Hill's "Time's Up" Is An Organic and Hard-Hitting Anomaly of True Collaboration

The beauty of organic collaboration comes to life in sonic songstress Kacy Hill’s newest single “Time’s Up," which features Grammy-nominated R&B / hip-hop artist 6LACK. In this tranquil offering, two prolific artists come together to convey the always relevant, gentle reminder to slow down in life. Co-written with Ryan Beatty and produced by Jim-E Stack, this track has been touched by an array of highly talented individuals. An extremely resonant, yet easygoing listening experience that engages the listener by its radically mellow nature, “Time’s Up” provides exactly what we need during tumultuous times.

“Time’s Up” starts over a smooth beat, where 6LACK’s distinct flow and the angelic production evoke an immediate mesmerizing quality. With a light vocoder over the vocals as he sings about moving closer to the light, a sense of calm settles in. Kacy Hill’s vocals supported by the contrasting and complimentary performance by 6LACK create a unique atmosphere, evoking peace while also staying honest in the lyrical content. When 6LACK expresses, “If it ain’t one thought it’s another / One foot in front of the other” Hill responds, “I swear there’s nobody else / Who makes me feel more myself”, finding solace in the madness.

On how the collaboration came about, Hill shares, “'Time’s Up’ is a song I started back in 2019 that finally found a permanent home after years of being unfinished. I DM’ed 6LACK a few months back and he so graciously agreed to give the song some of his magic. It is always a supremely gratifying feat to find new life in a song!” Based on the beautiful outcome of this unlikely collaboration, it’s safe to say this was meant to be.

“Time’s Up” is Hill’s first single of 2025 and follows last year’s offerings; the standalone track “Juliet” and her fourth LP BUG. We’re always ready for new music from this special artist and can’t wait to see what’s next for her this year.
