We Can't Help But Fall in Love With Katherine Li's “Happening Again”

I'm not saying that Katherine Li's new single "Happening Again" is the song of the summer, but you'll have a hard time catching me listening to anything else as we say a solemn goodbye to spring. While many of us are turning our attention towards crafting the perfect summertime rotation, Li is one artist that has me in a chokehold at every turn, and I can’t get enough.

When we last heard from Li she was just getting ready to release "Never Had a Chance," a song that (as of this writing) would go on to amass over 4.9 million Spotify streams and put her well on her way to reaching one million monthly listeners. Our TikTok queen has returned once more this week with "Happening Again", a humorous and honest look into the world of accidental and inescapable romance. Nostalgic guitar melodies and Li's dulcet tones synthesize in perfect harmony to create yet another indie-pop earworm that showcases the young singer's unparalleled songwriting talent. Whether she's forlorn over her inability to move on or reveling in the throes of young romance, it's hard not to be immediately charmed by her unique and sincere candor.

"Happening Again" is Li's third single this year, and with luck, fans won't have to wait too long for the next one. Simultaneously taking over both TikTok and the music world by storm, Li is an artist that needs to be on your radar this summer.
