Hot off their first-ever sold-out North American tour, Grammy-nominated international girl group KATSEYE is already embarking on the next phase of their musical evolution. In their new single "Internet Girl," the six-piece captures the complexities of visibility in the digital age, wherein confidence and critique coexist within the same doomscroll. With “Internet Girl,” KATSEYE isn’t simply reacting to the internet; they are also determining their own way of existing in it.
First revealed on their recent tour, “Internet Girl” has already become a hit among fans. The song encapsulates the madness of having every move judged, making way for the online chatter to become something almost self-deprecating in its own way. Instead of resenting the attention, KATSEYE consumes it with relish.
Its production is immediate and energetic. Infectious drum programming meets glitchy, high-energy synths that work both in front of a live crowd and in algorithmic spaces. In the hook, KATSEYE considers fame and self-projection with a winking awareness, singing together, “Haven’t you heard? I’m the internet girl / Every picture of me is ‘Oh my god, it’s her.’" What is a line like this but a statement and an observation at once? It acknowledges the show without becoming a part of it.
That subtlety extends to the track’s cheesiest moments. “Eat zucchini, eat zucchini / Do you read me? Like an emoji?” is a lyric that winks at the ridiculousness of internet chat, implying that not every message requires a return. It slips seamlessly into place, reflecting the group’s increasing confidence.
Besides the lyrical humor of “Internet Girl,” the track succeeds on the merits of great pop-song construction. The catchy melody and complex harmonies, coupled with an extremely rhythmic foundation, make it enjoyable and intriguing, and all the more so with each repeated exposure.
With momentum well established in their favor, it looks like 2026 promises to be an important year for KATSEYE. In addition to the excitement still swirling around their recent North American tour and well-received project Beautiful Chaos, the international pop group has received two Grammy nominations, one in the category of "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" and one for "Best New Artist."
