Let Rio Romeo Tell You A Story with "God's Got Something Out for Me"

We weren't ready for the delightfully campy zeal of this new track by Rio Romeo, bursting at the seams with theatrics.  The vaudevillian delivery suits the dramatic prose and irony of the lyrics, a true romp of insatiable catchiness.  You may claim false martyrdom with a song title like "God’s Got Something Out for Me," but when contextualized by a traumatic head injury after a second stint of homelessness, right after a viral moment was beginning to catapult this queer artist to some semblance of stability, all set against a backdrop of a burgeoning romance, well, maybe God was being trite and freedom really isn’t free….

For this Californian-via-Chicago and back artist, nothing may be sacred, but with an impending album and a diehard here for the butch fanbase, the real sermon is their success against the odds – physical or otherwise. We are so very happy Rio is on the right side of mend, and if this caliber of music is in store of the album, we’ll be in a state of grace. Who knows, maybe God's got something good in store for us after all.
