Life Goes On In Happydaze's Latest Single "Been And Gone" | THE NOISE

Edinburgh, Scotland four-piece rock band happydaze continues to never disappoint with the release of their glistening new single "Been and Gone." The glowing track echoes and ascends into powerful melodies, laced with a stand-out edge, and honestly expresses raw emotions.

On "Been and Gone," the band intros the track with distant, filtered vocals, painting a scene of directionless as warm, anticipation-filled instrumentation bubbles beneath the surface. Lyrically, the track digs into vulnerability with heart-wrenching lines like "Safe to say I'm a mess today/ You always seem to pull me out/And I could really use it right now," and "I never even got to show you/ The whole truth," adding a layer of relatability for fans to cling onto. The explosive chorus ushers in reeling guitar riffs, thrumming bass lines, and crashing percussion patterns as the band searches for clarity and stability, asking if they can take a long drive so they can remember that life goes on "instead of thinking it’s been and gone."

"After getting out and touring for the first time last year, the rush of being out in the world again was quite overwhelming. I lost a bit of direction, lost touch with a lot of people, and didn't know how to keep up with the pace of everything around me. The song is about grounding yourself in the moment, reaching out to the people you care about, and realizing that there's life ahead of you to appreciate." Says vocalist Luke Bovill about the new song.

The single acts as a companion piece to happydaze's recently released EP, Full Free Radical. The seven-track body of work is a stellar collection that featured singles such as "Cool Blue," "Faded," "(Full Free) Radical," and "Heaven You Felt, garnering notable support from idobi Radio, Kerrang! Radio and Rock Sound. The emotional record displays the band's incredibly evocative sound, and if this recent single says anything, it's that the band is still pushing the limits of what they can do.
