They say things don’t readily from the sky, but that age-old adage seems inapplicable when it comes to inspiration. In much the same way Newton formulated his groundbreaking gravitational theory by watching an apple from the sky, Loyal Lobos concocts a transfixing bit of pop-infused reggaeton from the throes of heartbreak and a dash of falling lemon juice.

“A lemon drop fell on a cut and I noticed the sharp pain and sting it caused, reminding me of the pain of a breakup I was going thru,” shares Loyal Lobos. “I wanted to express how much it hurts to detach from someone. As I was leaving a part in Bogotá, feeling the lull of that euphoria, I wrote the first verse. And that’s how the song was born.”

“Limón” sways gently between euphoria and melancholia, painting Loyal Lobos’ ethereal voice in hues of iridescent blue. It’s a hypnotic spell that becomes all the more potent in the accompanying video, which sees our future star deliver a bewitching performance of her song to a mirror that serves as a portal to a space beyond our own.
